On Wednesday, February 8th, Fire crews responded to an industrial accident involving a wind turbine in Solano County. An unidentified worker was cleaning windows on the offline turbine project when the ladder contacted a current source. The worker suffered an electrical shock and subsequently fell six feet and was immediately transported to the John Muir Medical Facility. Further details of the industrial accident have not been released, and it is unclear why the current source was exposed or how the ladder slipped.
Electrical accidents have become a serious concern in construction and industrial worksites. In the United States, approximately 350 people die in electrical-related accidents every year, and countless more suffer injuries such as:
- Burn injuries
- Internal tissue injuries
- Bone fractures
- Spinal cord injuries
- Cardiac arrest
Even with worker’s compensation benefits, electrical accident victims may not be able to afford the medical treatments and weeks off of work necessary for an optimal recovery. Disability benefits are calculated at a fraction of the worker’s average wage and are too little to replace the lost income support, and often forces workers to work injured. A civil suit may be an option for serious construction or industrial accident victims. With the help of an experienced attorney, victims may be able to recover compensation for the lost wages, medical costs, and other incidentals incurred by the injury that is not sufficiently covered under worker’s compensation.
To ascertain the value of your electrical accident claim, please consult a professional industrial accident attorney today. An experienced construction accident lawyer can help you secure your rightful compensation.
